The Mughal emperor Jahangir (ruled 1605 to 1627); was fascinated by the flora and fauna of India. A long lasting tradition of exquisite plant and animal studies emerged under his vigorous patronage. These paintings were influenced by both Iranian miniature paintings and contemporary European conventions for botanical drawings.
Floral ornamentation went on to become an integral part of Mughal and indeed Indian book design, painting albums, architectural decoration, ceramics, textiles, and all applied design in general, well into modern times.
This painting depicts a strikingly colored climbing plant, the Flame Lily or Glory Lily (gloriosa superba) or zambaq in Persian. Found in Asia and Africa, the flower has inward curving, wavy edged petals of a brilliant yellow color which changes rapidly to red.
The flower s stem and slender curving stamens are also precisely observed and elegantly arranged, in the manner of a botanical drawing.

Refund Policy
Our return policy is simple. Within 15 days of receipt of your order, you may return
- Any book in its original condition.
- Any unopened CD, DVD, VHS tape, or software.
- Any other merchandise in new condition, with its original packaging and accessories.
for a full refund (less shipping and handling). Please note that we can process returns and refunds only for items purchased from IslamiCity.
How to Return Items
To return any book, CD, DVD, VHS tape, software, or other, no call is required.
Simply indicate the reason for your return, include the packing slip with your return, and wrap the package securely. Attach the return label from the front of your packing slip and ship to the address indicated on the label. For your protection, we recommend that you use UPS or Insured Parcel Post for shipment. No refund will be issued to items not received by IslamiCity. It is the customer's responsibility to make sure that the items are returned securely and in good condition.
If you do not have your packing slip, please indicate the order number on a separate piece of paper and send the package to the following address:
